PROPAGATION MAT RECOMMENDATIONS

Select a germination area that is normally heated within 15 degrees F of
the temperature you need to germinate the seeds. Propagation mats
must be protected with a GFCI electrical circuit.

Olson Products recommends layering as described below to extend the life
of the propagation mat, prevent hot spots, and obtain the best seed yield.

1. Use a sheet of plywood or similar type of wood as a base. Do not use
foam, as it creates hot spots and reduces the life of the propagation mat.

2. To protect the underside of the mat, cover wood with plastic.

3. Place the propagation mat down with the label facing up.

4. Cover propagation mat with plastic to keep it dry.

5. Place aluminum screen over plastic, which can be used as a ground. An option is to ground to the bolt on the FT-15 Thermostat if you are using one.

6. Cover screen with plastic to keep mat dry and extend its life.

7. Place your trays down evenly. Do not use styrofoam trays, which
will insulate and creates hot spots.

8. Finally, place a sheet of clear plastic over seedlings to ad in water
retention and allow light to penetrate.

Caution: Puncturing of the propagation mat or misuse many cause an
electrical shock or even fire. Do not fold or crease mat or expose to high greenhouse temperatures.

To  increased propagation mat life, always lay flat to store.
